SUMMARY

Abraham Linc Corporation, a wholesale distributor of floor covering products serving the Mid-Atlantic region, is seeking a Transportation Supervisor for its Bridgeport, WV headquarters. This individual will be primarily responsible for overseeing the outbound freight while working within the constraints of the company’s budget and complying with DOT regulations.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Planning and organizing all assignments necessary to meet budget and goal expectations.
  • Continuous communication with all personnel in Transportation and Warehouse operations, as appropriate.
  • Work to resolve problems within the department to create a better work environment and at the same time accomplishing the goals of the company.
  • Monitor performance levels of employees and make necessary changes in order to improve performance.
  • Responsible for measuring existing departmental efficiencies and driver performance guidelines to ensure that expectations are met.
  • Anticipate and identify the various labor, equipment and timing requirements for daily demands as well as new programs and projects.
  • Create, review and implement training programs for personnel to help them meet the expectations of the company.
  • Must understand and implement company’s policies as related to D.O.T.
  • Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Direction/Assignments – Gives direction and guidance through demonstration, interaction and progressive discipline. The Supervisor must review all driver documentation related to (i.e. pre-trip inspection, post-trip inspection and logbook utilization).

Personnel Activities/Route Departures and Return – Resolves all equipment and personnel problems in a timely manner.  Plans and navigates delivery routes to most efficiently meet customer needs.

Ride along – The Supervisor is responsible for quarterly ride alongs with all drivers. These ride along's will ensure proper performance and adherence to all applicable state and federal laws.

Customer Service – Makes the customer the primary focus in all planning and decision making.  Consistently strives to exceed customer expectations.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
 
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in the Transportation field.
  • CDL A License

COMPUTER SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software, and Route Navigation software.
